(Food-Beverage-News.Com, October 02, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA- A Connecticut soup kitchen takes pride in a new recognition. Though its clients might not be able to afford to pay to eat out, recent health inspections rank the Community Soup Kitchen of New Haven higher than many restaurants.
The facility provides lunches four days a week, said David O’Sullivan of the Community Soup Kitchen at Christ Church Episcopal.
“We also work with four other sites that provide breakfast,” O’Sullivan told WTNH-Ch. 8. “We work with fellowship place and give them bagged lunches four days a week.”
The soup kitchen has one advantage – the equipment is relatively new. A donation about a year ago enabled the organization to renovate. City health officials gave the revamped facility and trained staff a score of 92 on the most recent inspection.
O’Sullivan said the ranking evokes many good feelings. “Pride, but also we have to recognize how lucky we are to have received the donation that made the renovation of the kitchen possible,” he said.
The soup kitchen provides 59,000 meals a year.
