Through Community Kitchen, residents in need are offered a variety of services through a “no questions asked” policy. This allows Community Kitchen to provide assistance to all their diners without judgment so that they might help them regain employment and obtain permanent housing.
A summary of some of the services provided through Community Kitchen are listed below:
Food/Meals – On average, the Community Kitchen of Columbus served a staggering 90,000-100,000 meals/year. This community kitchen offers both breakfast and lunch to individuals each week, Monday through Saturday. Additionally, the Salvation Army distributes boxed take-home meals onsite every Saturday and Sunday.
Clothing Room –Community Kitchen provides families with free clothing as well as household items, diapers, formula and toiletries items (when available). Clients may receive assistance through the clothing room every thirty days.
Bus Pass Program – In an effort to meet client’s transportation needs, Community Kitchen provides bus passes for individuals who need transportation for work, medical appointments and/or governmental social services appointments. Community Kitchen confirms all appointments and employment before issuing bus passes.
Referral Service – By establishing relationships with a variety of governmental and community agencies throughout Central Ohio, Community Kitchen is able to refer clients to other local agencies that may further meet their needs. Community Kitchen also helps clients to document qualifications and complete the paperwork that is essential to the referral process.
