Sore and Flaky Skin Exacerbated by Hidden Chemicals in Skincare Products, My Eco Sponge Reveals

(Food-Beverage-News.Com, April 01, 2015 ) Queensland, AUSTRALIA -- Sore or flaky skin are common discomforts felt by many people. Often cold dry air outside combined with heated air and a lack of humidity inside contributes to the dryness, but irritated or inflamed skin can be a reaction to prolonged contact with heat, chemicals and skin cleansers.

My Eco Sponge (MES) owner, Jen Hill understands the frustration long time skin sufferers feel when trying to find an answer to alleviate the discomfort and pain. "Most people don't know what they're putting on to their skin through moisturisers, cleansers and even make-up, and ironically, hidden chemicals in the product's ingredients are one of the biggest causes of skin problems," says Jen. "I spent years researching beauty products and their contents after becoming fed up with my sensitive skin. I decided to make changes to my beauty routine after I noticed my the soreness and discomfort of my skin started to affect my moods, and I often felt sad or angry as a result."

My Eco Sponge began through Jen's own passion to offer specialised natural products to sensitive skin sufferers, and people living with psoriasis. "Many of us don't know what chemicals skincare companies use because we don't ask the questions. And even when we do, we don't know enough about these chemicals to understand what they might be doing to our skin and our bodies," Jen says. "It's incredible how fast skin discomfort, irritation or soreness usually improves after switching to natural products." www.myecosponge.com.au

According to Jen, there are a list of product ingredients that should always be avoided to reduce the risk of an outbreak or skin allergic reaction:

1. Sulfates are used in most foaming products such as shampoos and shower gels. They can cause damage to eyes and critically irritate the skin.

2. BHA and BHT are used as a preservative and commonly found in moisturisers and makeup. They can cause allergic reactions, and some research has identified BHA as a possible human carcinogen.

3. Propylene Glycol and Polyethylene Glycol can be found in some lotions, and in mascara. These chemicals can easily pass through the skin, weakening protein and cellular structure.

4. Artificial Fragrance can even be found in products that claim to be unscented. Read labels and watch out for 'fragrance' or 'parfum.' Aside from causing skin redness and irritation, inhaling these chemicals allows them to be absorbed internally, and may result in complicated health issues such as asthma or damage to the immune and nervous systems.

With chronic skin reactions to most foods and skin products, Jen Hill knows the difference using natural products can make to skin conditions. "I have suffered from Psoriasis and Lichen Planus for many years. The discomfort was unbearable at times. I couldn't use any skin care products; even coconut oil irritated my skin," says Jen.

"I started using Konjac on my skin and soon discovered the Konjac sponge. I started to use this as a non-toxic gentle cleansing solution. Within a few days, I started to see amazing results. These awesome sponges left my skin feeling clean and refreshed with a natural glow and without any skin redness!" www.myecosponge.com.au
