Extreme Body Workout and P90X Offer Women an Extreme Summer Workout Without Bulking Up

(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 22, 2009 ) New York, NY – May 18, 2009 – Whether they're working to satisfy New Year's resolutions, slimming down for beach body season, or simply trying to get in shape to live healthier lives, women want to be able to lose weight and tone up without bulking up. Tony Horton's P90X extreme home fitness system gives them the option--the program can be tailored to build muscle mass or tone long lean muscles. Home fitness retailer, Extreme Body Workout, offers free tips on how women can get the most out of the P90X system.

“Men and women often want different aesthetic results from their workout programs," says Nina Bertolino, President of Extreme Body Workout. “Both want to lose fat, but where they differ is in strength training goals. Men often want to build larger, more defined muscles. Women also want definition and strength, but they generally want the appearance of long lean muscles rather than something like huge bulging biceps. The fear of bulking up can cause women to avoid extreme workout programs like P90X, but it doesn't have to."

Extreme Body Workout suggests the following tips and products to help women get the most out of the P90X home fitness program:

1. Stop worrying. Even if women do the same workouts as men, their bodies won't bulk up in the same way. The hormonal differences won't allow it. Women simply don't have enough testosterone to bulk up like men naturally.

2. Work with lighter weights and more repetitions if the primary goal is definition rather than building muscle. Just remember that women shouldn't try to avoid building muscle completely. Muscle helps the body burn fat more effectively and efficiently, so building muscle will mean losing more fat. Extreme Body Workout offers a resistance band kit tailored to women to supplement the P90X system.

3. Focus on fat. Rather than only watching the scale, it's important to take note of how much fat is lost. Muscle weighs more than fat, so while someone's weight may not drop drastically, their fat levels may be as they add and tone muscle. Extreme Body Workout offers a body fat tester to help users get a better feel for their overall results with P90X.

4. Include yoga and stretching in any workout routine. Keeping muscles long and limber will help to avoid a bulked-up appearance. The P90X program includes the X Stretch and Yoga X workouts, and Extreme Body Workout offers supplemental yoga blocks for use with the system.

Extreme Body Workout offers Tony Horton's P90X home fitness program as well as P90X Plus for those wanting to take their workouts to a higher level. Customers can also purchase additional fitness equipment for use with the program such as chin-up bars, push up stands, resistance band sets, yoga mats, heart rate monitors, and more.
