(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 06, 2011 ) Houston, TX - Best-selling author and spiritual activist Marianne Williamson will share her discoveries about the anti-gravitational pull of God’s love – a positive force far more powerful than compulsion and addiction – when she returns to Unity Church on Thursday, Jan. 13, at 7:30 p.m Unity Church is at 2929 Unity Drive (one block southeast of Hillcroft and Westheimer).
A question-and-answer session and book signing will follow. The Houston nativeÂ’s lecture, "An Evening with Marianne Williamson: The Lure of the Miraculous," is inspired by her latest book, A Course in Weight Loss: 21 Spiritual Lessons for Surrendering Your Weight Forever.
Marianne’s book was included among Oprah’s Ultimate Favorite Things for 2010. Marianne states in its dedication: “This book began and ended as a communication between friends. Oprah Winfrey inspired the book, directed its course, and guided its vision. On a soul level definitely, and in many ways a literary one, this book was a collaborative effort. Every page is a reflection of my affection for and gratitude to her; my hope is that it brings comfort to her as she has brought comfort to so many.”
Marianne has been a popular guest on the Oprah talk show, as well as Good Morning America, Charlie Rose and Larry King Live.
Four of her books, including Illuminata and Everyday Grace, have ranked #1 on the New York Times Bestsellers List. Another book, The Age of Miracles, reached #2. Other works include A WomanÂ’s Worth, Healing the Soul of America, The Gift of Change and The Age of Miracles: Embracing the New Midlife.
A passage in another of her bestsellers, A Return to Love – “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” – is regarded by many to be an anthem for this generation’s spiritual seekers.
Marianne was co-founder of The Peace Alliance, a grassroots campaign that supports establishment of a U.S. Department of Peace. In 1989, she established Project Angel Food that today provides meals in the Los Angeles area for more than 1,000 homebound people with AIDS.
Tickets ($35) for the Jan. 13 lecture can be purchased online at www.unityhouston.org or at the Unity Bookstore.
