SimplySell Develops Marketing Strategy for City of Shelbyville Illinois

(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 03, 2011 ) Shelbyville, IL -- Over the last six months, the City of Shelbyville MAPPING committee — now branded Shelbyville Works! — has been working with the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs, (IIRA) in a proactive approach to strategize the future vision of the community, placing focus on “What does Shelbyville Illinois want to be when it grows up?” MAPPING stands for Management and Planning Programs Involving Non-metropolitan Groups.

“As part of our rationalization process we determined the city needs a holistic marketing strategy which will include elements of online online and traditional marketing” said John Chambers one of the group’s steering committee leaders. “These types of marketing plans typically take time to create, but the group wanted to take immediate action”.

In anticipation of completing the full marketing plan, SimplySell developed a short-term approach for the group to leverage social media outlets like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter as a way to jump-start promoting the city online.

“We worked closely with the steering committee and City Council to identify 14 of Shelbyville’s high-priority assets — touching the areas of tourism, business, education and community involvement — and created high-definition social media videos for online promotional use.” explained Brian Tucker, President of SimplySell. “We’re now working with leaders of this effort to showcase more assets, including tourist events and historical society interviews, to be used for educational and archival purposes.”

In addition to showcasing the fine qualities about Shelbyville, the social media sites will also be further used as an online outlet to help promote local events like the upcoming Scarecrow Daze, Touchstone Energy Balloon Fest and Festival of Lights.
