Lunch is served 365 days a year and provides over 95,000 meals a year. There are no requirements to attend religious services or any fees to receive lunch. Individuals dining are considered guests, and the only requirement is they need to be hungry!
The Community Kitchens of Birmingham is a 501(C) (3) nonprofit organization which allow all donations to be tax-deductible. Donations are very much appreciated and volunteers are always welcome. Support is received by faith-based organizations, schools and universities, corporations, businesses and individuals. The Community Kitchens of Birmingham Board of Directors feel if they can assist individuals and families with food they can focus on meeting the basic needs of their household. Referrals are also provided for individuals to other community agencies that can assist with housing and other needs.
St. Andrews Episcopal Church, located at 1024 South 12th Street, Birmingham, Alabama, serves meals weekdays and Saturdays at noon in the church parish hall. On Sunday, sack lunches are served from the UAB parking lot at 11th Avenue South and 11th Place.
