(Food-Beverage-News.Com, May 19, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- Malfunctioning of endothelial walls of blood vessels cause endothelial dysfunction in human. This is one of the major sign for heart disease.
In the study conducted by American Heart Association, on the patients having atherosclerosis, thrombosis, and vascular biology during 2013 scientific sessions among 200 people between 51-86 years of age, almost all had the risk factors for blood vessel disease and nearly three –fourth of them were suffering from endothelial dysfunction, which can lead to high blood pressure and diabetes.
Patients consumed plenty of leafy vegetables, grass fed animal protein, shell fish, olive oil, fish oil along with the supplements containing antioxidants, like grape seed extract and vitamins which are thought to help toxins out of the body and slow aging. Polyphenols from fish oil also have benefits that help fight heart disease.
Studies on omega-3 fatty acids are so impressive that an agency of the National Institutes of Health published a report stating that fish oil can help reduce deaths from heart disease. The FDA itself states supportive but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids may actually reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.
The study found that, when on a more Mediterranean-focused die was followed, risk of endothelial dysfunction was lowered by three quarters.
“These findings represent a fundamental paradigm shift in how the diseases of the ‘Western Diet’ should be treated,” said Steven R. Gundry, M.D., lead author
