Beet Juice: A Natural Aid In Lowering High Cholesterol & High Blood Pressure

Health benefits of juicing beetroot

(Food-Beverage-News.Com, June 21, 2013 ) Hawthorne, CA -- Juicing beets has become more prevalent in the past few years with the release of a few different documentaries on the benefits of juicing. For one, the film "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" shows how juicing helped an Australian business man Joe Cross lose 100 pounds and cure him of his chronic illness. Beetroot juice is included in a number of juicing plans displayed on his site RebootwithJoe.

There are all types of super foods out there, but beetroot juice is especially super for the human liver. However, that's not all this juice has to offer. As part of juicing diets, beets provide loads of energy and improve blood flow through the body. Beetroot juice has been shown to balance energy in the human body, giving strength for exercise and increasing endurance.

Another benefit of beetroot juice is all the antioxidants found in this potent drink. Beetroot contains tons of antioxidants and natural nitrates, which help to move blood through the human body. This is one of the reasons why beets are used in neuropathic medicine because they help the heart, brain and muscles get a good amount of blood supply. The nitrates also improve nitric oxide in blood vessels, which actually passes more oxygen. This is essential for lowering blood pressure.

Sunsella are a company who sell popsicle molds and are trying to educate the public on the benefits of juicing and how their product can be used as a great way for parents to improve their children's diets.

There are some conflicting arguments for eating or juicing beets. Eating beets offers a healthy way to get all the nutrients and antioxidants. However, for blood pressure, a recent AHA study suggests that it's really important to drink beet juice. Juicing beetroot is the ultimate way to consume all of the antioxidants and nitrates. To do this, high powered juicer is necessary, such as a Breville or VitaMix. In addition, beets don't retain their healthy effects when cooked, as any type of heat or pickling will actually decrease the antioxidants and other healthy benefits found in the vegetable. Juicing maintains 100 percent of the healthy nutrients and puts them directly in the bloodstream.

Sunsella, a recently established US company are touting the many benefits of juicing to be used in conjunction with their new popsicle maker product. They state that freeze pops are an effective way for a lot of parents to get nutrients into their children's diets as it's easy to disguise vegetables that they may not normally eat. Sunsella also state that juicing is extremely quick and easy for parents leading busy lifestyles.

Beets also have nitrates, which gets confused with nitrites. Studies have shown that nitrites found in hot dogs, bacon and other cured meat can cause cancer. However, nitrates are completely different. Spinach, radishes and beets all contain nitrates, which actually do convert over to nitrites once in the human body. However, these are natural and safe for the human body to consume, especially when they are eaten with antioxidants that are also in beets.

The AHA study recommended that participants drink 250 mL of beetroot juice or water containing low amounts of nitrate to help lower their blood pressure. While a person may have heart problems or high blood pressure, beetroot juice has been shown to help many chronic illnesses, but other vegetables can also help. The USDA recommends filling a plate with half vegetables and fruits every day.
