Recipe videos using ChicoChef silicone baking mats
(Food-Beverage-News.Com, August 12, 2013 ) Morrisville, NC -- Author Sharon Daniels has begun a collaboration with ChicoChef, a new kitchen products company, aiming to reduce rates of childhood obesity by bringing children into the kitchen. Daniels' diet and nutrition books have generally been geared towards adults, although some of her works do include tips for parents on how to encourage healthy eating habits in their children and how to encourage the participation of children in healthy diet regimes in general.
ChicoChef is launching a line of silicone baking mats, and plans to include a free downloadable copy of Sharon Daniels' new book, Quick and Easy Baking Recipes for the Whole Family, free with each purchase. Daniels is quoted as supporting the production and use of silicone mats "because they offer a non-toxic, quick-cooling and evenly heating alternative to traditional baking sheet liners and grease. I'm no fan of slathering extra butter, oil, and fat on to pans. It also seems to make much more sense to allow children to be a part of the cooking process, something which the quick-cooling nature of silicone baking mats encourages."
The baking mats and book combo will be offered on Amazon, and are visible on the ChicoChef website, allowing customers two locations where they can find the products. Additionally, the book will be offered on Amazon, and a coupon code (W9E6BMYS) is being offered for a limited time on both platforms for the silicone baking mats themselves. At this point, there is no word as to whether the company or author intend on pursuing other sales platforms or in store distribution.
Silicone baking mats are a popular kitchen alternative to parchment paper, wax paper, and the use of grease and oil in baking. Additionally, they are recognized for their recyclable nature, bright colors, and versatility as a preparation surface. They cannot, however, be used as surfaces for cutting or chopping, as they contain a fiberglass support mesh.
ChicoChef is pursuing the production of silicone baking mats as a means of encouraging healthy cooking, but also to combat the epidemic of obesity in American children. Today, toddlers and preschoolers are beginning to face health problems such as diabetes as a result of poor diet and nutrition. The company believes that one vital step in improving the American diet is cultivating an understanding of food preparation and nutrition in young children. Sharon Daniels identifies with this mission, and has promised to collaborate with the company in its efforts. Sharon Daniels' books will also be carried on the ChicoChef website, as a part of the campaign.
