The concept behind the design is down to science. Larger surface areas take longer to melt in liquids. This flexible silicone mold, with a sealed and balanced design to ensure balance in the freezer, allows the user to create large ice balls for their drinks that last significantly longer than average ice cubes, sometimes up to hours.
"What really interested us," a spokesperson for Simple Home Creations comments, "Is how creative people were getting with their silicone ice-ball trays. Not only were our customers clearly pleased with the aesthetic effect of these impressive, large ice balls, but were also adding their own ‘garnishes' inside; mint leaves for cocktails, a drop of coloring for kid's parties; we've heard some amazingly creative ideas."
The enthusiasm that the US market has shown the ice ball tray has prompted the company to address their decision to limit their market to the one country.
Why an international marketplace?
"The people of the US have been very receptive to this product," Simple Home Creations say, "and it hasn't surprised us. After all, it's a device that allows you to make a real impact when hosting a dinner party, and it has great practical use. But what has surprised us is the level of interest from outside the US."
According to the company, they have received a number of enquiries from other countries throughout the world, mainly asking as to why the product was only available in the US. This caused Simple Home Creations to immediately set to work on making sure the product was available to a global audience.
When will it be available internationally?
The silicone ice-ball tray is available internationally now. Even though this has only taken place recently, the reception to the product on a global level has already amazed the company.
"We've had orders from the UK, orders from Australia, we've had orders from all sorts of places beyond the US," they state. "Going international was definitely the right decision for us."
