Silicone Baking Mat- Safe For Cooking

(Food-Beverage-News.Com, September 26, 2013 ) Los Angeles, California -- The people usually used products that have good quality. In baking wares, the people choose the products that are versatile and safe to use. They prefer the quality over the price. Silicone Baking wares such as baking mat, baking pan and spatula are known to be safe, but most of the people have doubts about the quality of these products.

According to Annie B. Bond, one of the top 20 environmental leaders by Body and Soul Magazine, "Silicone is touted as a great alternative to plastic, which most often contains phthalates, known as endocrine disruptors and suspects in breast and prostate cancer. If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose silicone."

Silicon is a natural element that is abundant in sand and rock. While Silicone is a man-made chemical that can be a liquid and a semi-solid adhesive that contains bonded silicon and oxygen. It is a rubber like, that has a non-stick quality. It is known for its heat-resistant qualities and is safe to use. It is known to be inert, not changing the flavor or releasing odors that might affect the quality of the food.

As stated by the Health Canada, a national public health in the government of Canada. "Silicone rubber does not react with food or beverages, or produce any hazardous fumes." However, Health Canada also stands by the rationale that "Just because lab rats exposed to perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) were likely to get cancer doesn't mean non-stick products necessarily cause cancer in humans."

Most of the people, prefers to buy more environmentally-friendly products. The people can use those baking mats made of food-grade silicone, approved by FDA. Silicone Baking Mat is recommended in cooking temperatures at about 220 degrees C or 428 degrees F.
