(Food-Beverage-News.Com, September 17, 2014 ) Norwich, VT -- A Vermont company is promoting its sweet potato salsas throughout the US for the month of September, hoping to reach new customers and boost sales with repeat customers.
Yummy Yammy, the maker of the world's only sweet potato salsas, is offering sale prices to all its retailers and to shoppers through Amazon.com, where the business has been selling for over a year.
Promotional pricing is 15% off to retailers, and 20% off to Amazon shoppers, and runs throughout the month of September, with individual stores deciding pricing and dates of the sale.
"We love to give occasional special pricing to our loyal retailers, so they can pass savings on to the many natural and specialty shoppers that already buy our unique salsa, and to the more budget-conscious customers who may have been waiting for a sale price to try our premium salsas," explains Lisa Johnson, owner and founder of Yummy Yammy -- or, according to her business card, "Yambassador".
"Most tomato salsas are $3-$5 a jar, and ours is a bit more because there's no tomato at all -- just flame-roasted sweet potato at the heart of it. And not just a little! It's the main ingredient, so it truly is a premium salsa, with the nutritional benefits to show for it," Johnson suggests.
Yummy Yammy® brand Sweet Potato Salsas are in all the Whole Foods in the North Atlantic region, including Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and north and central Connecticut. The salsas are found with their tomato-based cousins, in the salsa aisle near the chips. In the many independent stores along the East Coast and Midwest, each store manager decides the best placement for the unusual condiments.
"They're actually much more than a typical condiment, though," counters Johnson. "While most salsas go on top of your meal as an extra flavor, my salsas can also be the heart of the meal, because each one has beans, loads of sweet potato, and either corn or another vegetable. So you can just put some on top of your pasta or eggs or burger, but it can also be the main ingredient in your wrap or burrito."
Amazon customers seem to feel strongly about the salsas, evidenced by the positive reviews. The company's website also lists customer comments.
The sale runs Sept 7-31 on Amazon. Individual retailers decide on the dates of their own product promotions.
