How to Make the Perfect Cookie

(Food-Beverage-News.Com, October 28, 2014 ) San Francisco, California -- Ally Brown, Director of allybrown Products, home of the Perfection Silicone Baking Mat, explains what can go wrong when baking cookies:

"There's nothing like the smell of home baked cookies to make a home really welcoming. Home cooks invest a lot of time, effort and hope when they mix up a batch of cookies for the family and are often disappointed that although they follow the recipe steps to the letter, the cookies don't turn out as they'd hoped. It's the last step - the baking in the oven - that is the crucial decider to cookie success or not. Many home bakers can't work out why those cookies on the edges of the cookie sheet have burnt edges or why those in the middle are not cooked through and can still be gooey inside - and this is from the same batch," said Brown.

So what are they doing wrong?

"The problem is with heat conductance in the oven and with the cookie sheet. Metal cookie sheets need to be greased so that cookies won't stick. The combination of the metal and the grease interferes with even heat distribution across the cookie sheet. The grease heats up very quickly and it burns making the cookie edges burn as well. And sometimes the grease cooks away and the cookies can't be lifted off the sheet without a lot of force, often making them break up. But up until now, greasing a metal cookie sheet was the only way to bake cookies," said Brown.

So what can home cooks do to improve their cookie baking success?

"Professional chefs have been using silicone baking mats for years to ensure perfect results. The Perfection Silicone Baking Mat goes straight on top of the cookie sheet and needs no greasing because of the non-stick silicone surface. The special internal weave of the mat ensures even heat distribution across the mat and therefore even cooking of each and every cookie on the mat no matter where they are positioned. Baked cookies simply lift off - you don't even need a spatula to separate them from the mat - and they stay whole and don't break up or crumble like they used to when using conventional methods," said Brown.

Are there any other benefits in using a silicone baking mat?

"Home cooks new to using Perfection Silicone Baking Mats express their delight at their successful results and they are even more delighted to find how easy it is to clean up after cooking. The conventional greased metal cookie sheet takes a lot of scrubbing to get clean, and if cooking spray has been used there is often a residual grease stain that is impossible to clean off. Before long your cookie sheets look ugly and dirty no matter how much you have tried to clean them. The silicone baking mat on the other hand requires only a quick rinse under the tap and a wipe over. Nothing sticks to it at all, not even burnt sugar or gooey taffy. The cookie sheet is used just to provide a firm surface for the mat in the oven, and so it stays perfectly clean through the whole process. It doesn't even need to be washed as no food comes into contact with it," said Brown.

How can home cooks find these mats?

"Perfection Silicone Baking Mats are a #1 best selling mat on Amazon and home cooks can be turning around their baking success before the weekend with Amazon's speedy delivery," said Brown.
