Beyond Weight Loss: Finesseur Weighs In On South Beach DietÂ’s Health Benefits

(Food-Beverage-News.Com, November 11, 2014 ) Oakland, CA -- From celebrities to commoners, people from all over the world swear by the South Beach Diet's effectiveness in helping lose weight and keeping it off. But beyond its weight-loss benefit lies a more important advantage: it helps prevent heart disease. Contemporary kitchenware manufacturer Finesseur agrees that this remarkable health benefit puts the South Beach Diet in a new light.

According to Finesseur spokesperson Allison Montgomery: "It's about time the South Beach Diet is recognized for what it is -- a health-boosting diet that offers more than just weight-loss benefits. More than anything, we believe that health should be the primary reason when getting into any diet plan."

The South Beach Diet was devised in the 1990s by Dr. Arthur Agatston, a cardiologist, and Marie Almon, a dietitian. It was initially designed to help reduce the risk of developing heart disease and manage insulin levels. The diet quickly became popular for its ability to shed excess pounds through the increased consumption of unrefined slow carbohydrates.

"The findings of Dr. Arthur Agatston and dietitian Marie Almon were indeed outstanding that we want to help more people become aware of the benefits of the South Beach Diet," says Montgomery. "Through this information, we want to walk dieters through its health benefits and share with them a few tips on how they can make the South Beach Diet more effective as a daily diet routine."

A slow carb diet

Dr. Agatston designed the South Beach Diet as a better alternative to the low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet that was being advocated by the American Heart Association. His findings showed that low-fat diets weren't as effective in curbing heart-related diseases.

The South Beach Diet emphasizes unrefined slow carbohydrates over fast carbohydrates. Not to be confused as a traditional low-carbohydrate diet, South Beach concentrates more on choosing the right carbohydrates to boost heart health. This should include whole grains, lean proteins, certain fruits and vegetables, and heart-healthy oils like olive oil and canola oil.

3-Phase Diet for Weight Management

Phase 1:
* Initializes the weight loss process by emphasizing normal-sized portions of specific foods like lean meats, chicken, fish, eggs, vegetables, beans, nuts, snacks and desserts
* Lasts for two weeks
* Encourages consumption of three balanced meals plus snacks every day

Phase 2:
* Aims to reach the target body weight by reintroducing the right carbohydrates like whole grains and certain fruits
* Initially, dieters should include one carbohydrate per daily meal for one week, then another carbohydrate the following week, until one reaches the target of two to three servings of carbohydrates per day

Phase 3:
* Focuses on the maintenance of the diet
* Encourages dieters to make it more of a lifestyle than a weight-loss routine

Montgomery zeroes in on how the South Beach Diet emphasizes the importance of proper portion control. "The initial phase of the South Beach Diet is integral in making the whole weight-loss routine a success. Through effective food portion control, dieters can get past the initial phase without any difficulty. In achieving proper portion control, accuracy is key, so it is vital that one uses precise measuring tools. The Finesseur Digital Food Scale, for example, measures the exact amounts of food for effective and accurate food portion control," explains Montgomery.

Taking control of health with South Beach

Based on first-hand experience by its religious followers, the South Beach Diet helps one achieve his/her ideal weight, and keep it that way for the long term. More importantly, the diet lowers a person's risk of developing diabetes and hypertension by stabilizing cholesterol and blood fat levels.

"The South Beach Diet is all about making healthier food choices, which should really be the focus of any dieter. By being smart with the food choices you make, the health benefits you can gain aren't far behind. You will be able to maintain your ideal weight and live healthier in the long run," concludes Montgomery.
