(Food-Beverage-News.Com, November 11, 2014 ) Chattanooga, Tennessee -- Even though silicone bakeware comes with benefits, its quality and life span should be maintained like all other kinds of bakeware or else money will just go to waste. Chris Moal from Mister Kitchenware shares to customers some basic tips on how to properly use and keep silicone bakeware in its best shape.
"When baking something in glass pans, you can simply cut baked goods into how you like it straight in the pan. But with silicone, this is a no-no. Silicone is a soft material and can be easily scraped, pierced and cut with sharp objects like knives," Moal warns.
Silicone bakeware should also be washed gently. Unlike dishes where scouring pads and other abrasive tools are needed, these rough objects should be used with silicone bakeware as these can damage the soft silicone's surface.
"But because silicone pans are nonstick, you really do not need these abrasive cleaning tools because there are no food particles to remove anyway," Moal adds.
Silicone bakeware should not also be used over direct heat. Even though silicone bakeware can be placed directly onto the oven rack, they should never be placed on burners or direct flame since it will surely harm the material.
Place big silicone pans on baking sheet before filling them with batter. Although small silicone bakeware can stand on its own, larger ones will definitely need support from baking sheets for added stability.
Lastly, always make sure to follow manufacturer instructions. Determine the temperature range of the silicone bakeware you are using. These kitchen implements may vary in their recommended temperature so find out what this is and stick to it.
"All in all, silicone bakeware can be a great addition to your baking implements especially if you are fond of baking. It can maintain the quality of baked goods and also improve your baking experience," Moal concludes.
