Starving For More Products Offers Five Coffee Mug Tips

(Food-Beverage-News.Com, January 12, 2015 ) Denver, Colorado -- Starving For More Products. makers of the new and popular 16 oz coffee travel mug sold on amazon, has issued five tips for buying and using the latest coffee travel mugs.

"You might think that buying and using something as mundane as a coffee mug can be easily accomplished without any kind of special knowledge but there are a few tricks and tips that will make the experience much more enjoyable in the long run. We are pleased to share these valuable coffee mug tips." said Jackie Phillips, spokesperson the company.

Tip 1: Don't Overfill.

Many people (especially those new to coffee travel mugs) tend to fill their coffee mug "to the brim" when they first start using it. However, they quickly find out that most coffee travel mugs are not leak or spill proof. Even if there is some kind of slide lock or cover that slides over the opening in the lid, liquid will leak out onto the lid if the mug is "jostled around" when in motion. Leaks can be ferocious if the mug gets knocked over or is tipped at an extreme angle. The best recommendation is to not fill the coffee mug more than three-quarter full when pouring a beverage into it.

Tip 2: Let the beverage cool for a few minutes before snapping or screwing on the lid

Many coffee travel mugs are thermally insulated. This means that the beverage inside will maintain the temperature very near where it was when it was poured into the mug. Most of the time if the beverage is hot like coffee is, the temperature is too hot for most people to drink comfortably. Most people are used to the temperature quickly cooling off to a temperature they prefer when consuming the beverage drinking it out of an open cup or mug that is not thermally insulated. The problem is without insulation once this "optimal" temperature is achieved the beverage continues to cool off until it is cold.

Well, this will not happen with a thermally insulated mug. However, with the newest thermally insulated mugs the problem can be just the opposite. Retaining temperature for an extended period of time is the point of having thermal insulation, but it can remain too hot to drink for too long. Some people have complained that they have burned their mouth after drinking from a thermally insulated mug right after they poured it in and snapped the lid on. The best practice is to let the beverage cool down to the desired drinking temperature BEFORE snapping the lid on.

TIP 3: Hand Wash Stainless Steel Mugs

Due to the nature of the metal, coffee travel mugs that are manufactured with stainless steel should never be washed in a dishwasher. This can damage the mug or at a minimum cut short its useful life. Also it is advisable not to wash stainless steel mugs with harsh detergents or bleach. Gently hand washing will extend the useful life of any travel mug made with stainless steel.

TIP 4: Use Coffee Travel Mugs With A Good Handle

Coffee travel mugs should be made for traveling. Any product made for traveling will have a way to keep the device "in hand" when on the move. This is no different with coffee travel mugs. In fact, as mugs will usually have hot liquids that can spill out if dropped, maintaining a grip on a coffee mug when traveling is just as important or even more important than keeping hold of a suitcase.
