(Food-Beverage-News.Com, April 12, 2015 ) Los Angeles, California -- Mr. Muffin has recently introduced their muffin baking cups on Amazon, which are gaining excellent customer feedback. Mr. Muffin Baking Cups are made of food grade BPA-free silicone. With this, Levy believes that free information on how to make healthier baked goodies would be useful for their customers.

Levy believes that baking should be both fun and nutritious. She suggests replacing cream cheese frosting with reduced fat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla in order to reduce the caloric content to only 59 kilocalories and 3 grams of fat for every tablespoon. "Beat a teaspoon of vanilla extract, an 8-oz block of reduced fat cream cheese and a cup of powdered sugar."

If buttercream is required in the recipe, Levy says that it can be replaced with nonfat whipped frosting. Powdered sugar can also be used to replace buttercream frosting. Just sift the same amount of powdered sugar in order to reduce the calorie content from 70 to only 30 kilocalories per tablespoon. Levy adds, "If chocolate frosting is needed, you can melt 16 ounces of bittersweet chocolate with a quarter cup of low-fat milk. This should be healthier but still as tasty."

Eggs in baked recipes also increase calorie content and finding a substitute can significantly lower fat and calorie content. Levy shares that an egg can be replaced with two egg whites or one-fourth cup of egg substitute. When egg is substituted, it is said to reduce 6 kilocalories and 6 grams of fat on baked goods.

Levy even said that eggs can be skipped altogether and replaced with a mixture of a half teaspoon baking powder, a tablespoon of vinegar and a tablespoon of water. "Or you can replace an egg with a mixture of ground flaxseed and three tablespoons of water. This mixture is known to be rich in omega-3 with lower calorie content and no cholesterol."
