(Food-Beverage-News.Com, June 04, 2015 ) Foley, Alabama -- The 16th Annual Spring Island Apple Festival 2015 will be celebrated on October 4th, 2015 at Fulford Hall on the Fulford Ganges Road, Salt Spring Island, Canada. The organizers provided a theme for the program that says "Let the Kid inside you escape".
There have been local photographers who participates such event over the years and documented the festival. There will be exhibition of 100 varieties of organic apples. Last year there were about 262 varieties all grown organically on Salt Spring Island, arranged in order and with detailed labels. Salt Spring Island, BC grows over 350 varieties of apples, with a history dating back in 1860. The Salt Spring Island Apple Festival estimated about 1500 attendees for this year.
The main objective of the event is to promote organic apples, heirloom products, sustainable living, and exhibit farm groups. Victory Gardens is another organic group that support organic heirloom products. The organic apple varieties food tasting will be displayed at Fulford Hall. The Pie Ladies will be exhibiting at least 12 labelled varieties of apple pies. Theatrical artists will be featured in the event those include Johnny Appleseed, Theodore Trage, The Queen and Captain Apple. There will be educators who will be providing food and organic apple growing demonstration. Orchard bee and honey bee experts will be present at the event as well.
"Our commitment has always been to provide an outstanding Festival," said organizer Harry Burton, "and we love to connect people with great apples and the farms/farmers growing them. Ultimately we want everyone to become another salt spring island apple connoisseur,"
The funds that will be gathered from the festival will be used for the development of juicing facility on Salt Spring. There is also $500 bursary donated to support practical learning in the field of organic agriculture.
