(Food-Beverage-News.Com, June 15, 2015 ) Foley, Alabama -- The 16th Annual World Veg Festival will be celebrated on October 3 to 4, 2015 at San Francisco County Fair Building, 1199 9th Avenue, San Francisco, Ca 94122, United States. The event will be hosted by the San Francisco Vegetarian Society.
The Annual World Veg Festival is open to all, and for the quality and quantity of educators and speakers it draws, the $10 admission allows the attendees to taste vegan foods, acquire organic products, listen to speakers and connect with organic enthusiasts. There are also vendors who will be exhibiting heirloom seeds and heirloom vegetables and some would present food demonstrations. Children below 12 and legitimate seniors over 65 years old with valid ID are subjected for free admission.
"The event features speakers, food vendors, exhibitors and community groups, promoting a plant-based diet and lifestyle," explains Dixie Mahy, the President of SFVS. The event is organized by unpaid volunteers such as herself.
"At the cooking demos, chefs will show you how to prepare delicious, vegan dishes featuring the foods of Africa, India and more," says Dixie, "Raw foods chefs will demonstrate easy-to-prepare living foods.There will also be entertainment, a Children's Corner and urban gardeners to teach you how to grow your own food."
The main objective of the program is to gather vegetarians, vegans and those in between. Organizers also wanted to maintain a reputation for ecological activism, promote sustainable healthy lifestyle and preserve ethics of the organic products.
The festival will be setting up a vegetarian themed venue. There will also be children section, film viewing, vegan meals and entertainment by leading vegetarian researchers and activists from all over the world.
Since year 2000, the San Francisco World Veg Festival has featured vegetarian advocates like Lee Hall from Friends of Animals, Dr. Michael Gregger, and author John Robbins. Past presentations have included titles like "Latest Nutrition Discoveries 2012: Uprooting the Leading Causes of Death", "I Don't Eat Fake Meat: an Etymological Appeal to Compassionate Living", "No Happy Cows", and "How Do We Look? Vegetarians in the Media." There are also vegan cuisines that will be presented by the Raw Dinner catered by Chef Cherie Soria of Living Light Culinary Arts.
