Tuvizo Breaks Down The Best Foods For Increasing Stamina

The Tuvizo Reflective Running Vest provides high visibility in the day and excellent reflective qualities at night for running, cycling, walking and other outdoor pursuits. This easily adjustable, lightweight, elastic, reflective belt vest/reflective cycling vest/reflective running vest/reflective safety vest gives a versatile comfortable fit over light sports gear or thicker outdoor clothing as can be seen in the video, and is a good alternative to looser bulkier reflective gear.

(Food-Beverage-News.Com, May 18, 2016 ) Sarasota, Florida -- According to Suzanne Girard Eberle, a sports dietitian and author of Endurance Sports Nutrition, many endurance athletes form bad eating habits because they don't think about food. While carbs fuel muscles fast, it may not be sufficient to solely rely on this food group.

For a boost of long-lasting energy, endurance athletes are encouraged to include superfoods such as bananas, oatmeal, eggs, and sweet potato in their diets. The complex carbohydrates in these foods digest slowly thus keeping one's blood sugar at optimal levels.

Foods like kale, salmon, and walnuts have anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce the risks of muscle-related injuries. "They're a great source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids," director of sports nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Leslie Bonci, R.D., said.

Peanut butter is a versatile food packed with heart-healthy monounsaturated fat that helps endurance athletes feel fuller. It is also good for building and repairing muscles. Dr. Mehmet Oz suggests eating one tablespoon of peanut butter three times a week.

Another superfood that can help boost an endurance athlete's stamina is chia seeds. They have hydrophilic properties, absorbing more than 12 times their weight in water for prolonged hydration.

Endurance athletes must avoid sugary foods and highly processed carbohydrates as the energy in these generally don't last very long unlike complex carbs. Fatty foods must also be avoided because it takes more energy for the body to break it down.

A well-balanced and nutritious diet can help athletes reach optimum performance. It is vital that these foods are consumed in modest portions and in moderation. Including these superfoods in one's diet can not only boost energy but also maintain an all-around healthy body for race day.
