The company, which is an arm of Rhotus LLC, began manufacturing commercial quality nonstick grill mats earlier this summer, that are suitable for professional applications as well as for home use. The Chef Caron grill mat has been enormously popular, quickly becoming a best-seller on Amazon with exlusively five-star ratings.
The new Chef Caron Facebook Fanpage focuses on the BBQ grill mats but also includes frequent posts on such subjects as barbecue recipes, tips on grilling, ways to use the mats in other applications, cooking humor, contests, promotions, coupons and and special offers.
The new company, Chef Caron, resulted from the collaboration of two brothers, Don and Dave Caron. Between them, there is a wide range of skills and talents represented. Don Caron (Spokane, WA) is known as a movie director and composer, and Dave Caron (Kalispell, MT) works as a chef and a multi-sport coach.
Earlier this year, the brothers were collaborating on a fundraiser in Kalispell for the Evergreen Wrestling Club, which Dave Caron coaches every year; a screening of Caron's new feature film, Different Drummers, with the revenue and donations being contributed to the wrestling club.
Don Caron says, "While doing the work for the fundraiser, we came to the realization that we could combine our two areas of expertise to do something completely new. That turned into Chef Caron, our recently formed company."
Nonstick BBQ grill mats are fairly simple – a large piece of fiberglass fabric covered with layers of polytetrafluoroethylene, often referred with the acronym PTFE. PTFE is the coating that is employed in all nonstick cookware, and is also known as Teflon, a DuPont product.
They differ from other cookware of this type since they are flexible, which creates a very even temperature for the cooking surface, and also simplifies cleanup. Additionally, the grill mats can be cut with scissors to any size or shape.
