"Stay Away From Aspartame," Natural Health Sherpa Urges Consumers

(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 18, 2012 ) Wilmington, NC -- “Seventy-five percent of all adverse reactions to food additives reported to the FDA are due to aspartame, ” according to Natural Health Sherpa, a leading natural health website. These adverse reactions include headaches, seizures, vision loss, hearing loss, joint pain, breathing difficulties, and even death.

Other diseases that are worsened or caused by aspartame include cancer, brain tumors, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.

But Wait, There’s More…

Aspartame has been touted to aid in weight loss. According to Natural Health Sherpa, “it very likely may have the complete opposite effect!” The January 1997 issue of the International Journal of Obesity, shows that aspartame and sucralose may in fact cause weight gain.

Natural Health Sherpa describes the research:

“Fourteen women were divided into three groups. One group was given four aspartame-sweetened lemonades; one received four sucrose (or sugar) sweetened lemonade, and the third group received carbonated mineral water on three separate days.

“Researchers found that the group that drank the aspartame-sweetened lemonade ate more calories in the two days that followed, as compared to those women in the regular lemonade and water groups. Additionally, the majority of those additional calories came from carbohydrates.”

Instead of using aspartame, Natural Health Sherpa recommends using the naturally sweet herb called stevia – “the only sugar replacement that has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity rather than decrease it.”

About Natural Health Sherpa:

Natural Health Sherpa provides in-depth, science-based, independent reviews of natural health therapies and remedies that have been proven to be both safe and effective and are backed by good science -- multiple double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized studies. Unfortunately, there are many charlatans making bogus, unfounded claims in the natural health area, so our goal is to separate fact from fiction to pinpoint what actually works.
